Q - Is this the first time you’ve performed in Australia? What are you looking forward to the most?
A - This is going to be the second time I’m performing in Australia. I’m really looking forward to see if my profile has picked up compared to the last time I was here. It has been almost one and a half year!
Q - If you have toured in Australia, please state HOW MANY times and WHEN was the last tour? Did you make it to Adelaide? What do you remember most about your last visit? Were there any standout moments, people or places that you care to share with the readers? Did you make it to Adelaide? Describe your experience.
A - Yes, I did make it to Adelaide. I have only toured Oz once untill now. I think it was the beginning of March 2008. Adelaide was crazy hot I remember, and dusty! (or was that Perth?) I was getting crazy drunk backstage so some of the moments are forever lost I’m afraid ; )
Q - Music festivals have are hugely popular in Australia, Please describe what audiences can expect from your performance at We Love Sounds. How will your festival performance differ from a club show, if at all?
A- That’s a good question! I do always bare in mind the surroundings and the type of crowd when I’m playing. In that case, the set would differ from a club set. I think a lot more goes when playing a festival. I do see the performance as a showcase of what I do in a club so in that case it would be the same.
Q - Which producers and DJs, are influencing your productions or Djing today?
A- I’m getting more and more in the Baltimore/Fidget world at the moment. People like A-trak, Diplo, Steve Aoki and Bloody Beetroots pull me a lot into that. I still have that techhouse love and edge but I like to blend it and represent the typical Dutch sound as well!
Q - How has the global economic crisis affected you and the music industry? What impact will it have on the industry in the next 5 years?
A- I don’t really feel the global economic crisis to be honest. My career has been an upward movement for the last couple of years so it’s hard for me to judge. I think the global ‘reset’ will be good to get a lot of things sorted out properly though!
Q - Who would you like to collaborate with in the near future?
A- I did a lot of wonderfull collaborations the last couple of months with A-trak, Diplo, Steve Aoki, Roger Sanchez, Lee Mortimer and David Guetta. I’m now really looking forward to collaborating with the singers I’d love to have for my own album I’m working on right now.
Q - Do you remember what music you were listening to when you were younger? What might your ‘mix tape’ sounded like in 1989 – which tracks would absolutely have to be included?
A- Nice question! Wow, I think I was actually making mixtapes then! I would have stuff on there by Mantronix, Afrika Bambataa, Janet Jackson, Salt ‘n Peppa, even (haha) Milli Vanilli and George Michael. By that time I also loved Little Louis ‘French Kiss’ and M.A.R.R.S. ‘Pump Up The Volume’.
Q - What’s in the pipeline for you? What projects are coming up for you in the next 3-6 months)? (Mention any tracks or forthcoming releases here).
A- Laidback Luke – Need Your Loving (wich was originally the Korgis Bootleg), Laidback Luke & Diplo – Hey!, Laidback Luke & Gregor Salto feat Mavis – Step by Step (This is going to be a new Stealth release).
Q - Complete this sentence: if I could create the ultimate super group it would include the following artists:
